Finishing Blows: The Keith Thurman Five

Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman (26-0) stopped his first 10 opponents and currently has 22 KOs. The early ones were impressive but against inferior competition so we decided not to include any. However, this one does get an honorable mention.

5. Leonardo Rojas {TKO Rd 2}
This vicious body shot from 2009 would’ve ranked higher but it was against an opponent with a losing record. Despite that the perfect placement makes it an undeniably great punch that took the air out of Rojas. Don’t sleep on One Time’s ability to go to the body.

4. Carlos Quintana {TKO Rd 4}
Looking for his 18th stoppage in just 20 fights, One Time decided to make it a short night for Quintana when he opened up early with loads of power punches. Shortly after the fight Quintana announced his retirement.

3. Orlando Lora {TKO Rd 6}
On the undercard of Broner/Escobedo, One Time put himself on the map as a serious threat in the 147 division. Lora had only been stopped once at the time of the fight and this was the first real test for One Time at 147. He passed like Tom Brady.

2. Jesus Soto Karass {TKO Rd 9}
On the night Broner lost his WBA welterweight strap, One Time was tested by Soto Karass. After being buzzed in the first round by a right hand, One Time used his speed and quickness to stop Soto Karass.

1. Diego Chaves {KO Rd 10}
One Time’s best stoppage came in 2013 when he went up against the then undefeated Argentine, Chaves. One Time dropped Chaves in the 9th with a crushing body shot he was never able to fully recover from and followed that up in the 10th with punches upstairs for the KO.
