Sergiy ‘The Technician’ Derevyanchenko (8-0, 6 KOs) faced Mike Guy (8-2-1, 4 KOs), who took the fight on one weeks notice but gave Derevyanchenko seven-and-a-half hard rounds of work on #PBConFS1.
Derevyanchenko landed body shots in round three that set the stage for what was to come in round eight. Guy, who was clearly out skilled, put up a great fight and at the end of round three, got off a few shots showing he wasn’t going to lay down for the highly decorated amateur opponent.
Controlling the fight from beginning to end with body shots, Derevyanchenko, peppered Guy with head shots after he dropped his hands from fatigue. In rounds four and five he landed even more body shots and head shots that sent Guy into survival mode.
By round six, Derevyanchenko was landing body shots with both hands and almost stopped Guy. Come round eight Guy was dropped by a right hand over the top that landed squarely on his forehead.
Guy was able to continue and Derevyanchenko landed a left hand to the body leaving Guy curled up in the corner. Although he beat the count, the referee stopped the fight after Guy backpedaled around the ring as Derevyanchenko teed off.
Derevyanchenko, who lives in Brooklyn, landed 165 of 598 punches thrown, while Mike Guy of Sacramento, California landed 68 of 284.
