On March 17 we will see the return of Top Rank prospect Julian ‘Hammer Hands’ Rodriguez (15-0, 10KOs) in an eight-round bout against Eudy Bernardo (21-1, 15KOs) at Madison Square Garden. Rodriguez, a New Jersey native, is coming off a blowout unanimous decision win over Jerry Belmontes, in which he dropped him in each of the first two rounds.
His March 17 opponent, Bernardo, was last seen in the ring against Mason Menard on ShoBox, where he suffered a brutal round three KO loss. For Rodriguez, this is the next step on his path from prospect to contender, and Bernardo is the perfect opponent to jump-start his knockout streak.
In a total of four fights last year, only one ended in a KO. Seeing Rodriguez, an exciting young prospect, in with a fighter who has shown vulnerabilities, will be an opportunity for the MSG crowd to understand why the name ‘Hammer Hands’ suits him perfectly.
