Dominic Breazeale (18-1, 16KOs) had to rise from the canvas in order to defeat Polish heavyweight Izuagbe Ugonoh (17-1, 14KOs). Breazeale’s lack of speed was on display from the opening bell, which caused him to absorb a lot of unnecessary punishment. He hit the canvas in round four but rallied back in the fifth to drop Ugonoh twice before the KO blow landed.
Although Ugonoh dominated the fight by getting off first and exposing his opponents limited head movement, he wasn’t able to stay away from Breazeale’s power punches long enough to win.
Breazeale, who’s no stranger to dramatic fan friendly fights, tipped the scale at 263lbs, eight pounds over his weight against Anthony Joshua. He struggled thru all five rounds in his third consecutive fight suffering a knockdown.
